Focus turns to semi-final

Chelsea Walsh playing for the Bushies under-16s on the weekend. Walsh bowled five overs for just six runs.

The Benalla Bushrangers’ A-grade side lost a seesawing battle away against Beechworth on Saturday.

The home side snuck across the line in the end, collecting a win in the final round-robin game thanks to strong bowling.

Beechworth was all out for 60 in the first innings, and backed that up with 9-64 in the second.

Meanwhile the Bushies were all out for 48 in the first and then ran out of overs on Saturday, finishing at 5-58.

Benalla’s Josh McCallum bowled well to contain Beechworth in the second innings, and finished with figures of 4-19 off his 10 overs.

The Bushies finished fifth on the ladder and will now play Beechworth again this Saturday in the semi-final.

Meanwhile the B-grade side defeated City Colts White.

The Colts needed 136 for victory and were bowled out for 124. Steve McCallum and Cam Howlett took three wickets each.

B-grade finished second on the ladder and will now host a semi-final this Saturday at the Benalla Gardens oval.

C-grade lost to Rovers United Bruck Green playing at the Arundel St Lake End ground.

The Rovers batted first and made 6-195 from their 36 overs. Phil Begnone took 2-18.

In reply the Bushies made 7-126. Mark Saunders top-scored with 51. Brent Wallace made 27 and Henry Sadaya made 13.

The under-14s and under-16s both lost their semi-final games played at the weekend and are now finished for the year.

The under-16s bowled first against the Corowa Roos. Corowa made 7-180. Adam Walsh, Vaughan Kirk and Callum Sands took two wickets each.

Bushrangers were bowled out for 141. James Arendt top-scored with 40 and Adam Walsh and Vaughan Kirk both made 23.

The under-14s bowled first against Rovers United Bruck Red playing in Wangaratta and needed 140 for victory. They made 8-107 in reply. Bode Stevens top-scored with 24 and Lachie Sands made 16.
