Owls bounce back for a win

Owls overcame Possums in the table tennis last week. It was a hard-fought 3-2 victory for the Owls, who bounced back from last week’s defeat.

A-grade

A determined Owls unit edged out Possums for a gallant 3-2 victory. John Bajada was impressive, accounting for both singles in an awesome display.

With the result hinging on the doubles, Bajada then teamed with John Holschier to snatch a 21-9, 11-21, 21-19 victory.

Taipans continued their good form, playing brilliantly for a 4-1 victory over Rosellas. Lee Horan gave a classy display to win both singles, with Matt Gill showing spirit to chip in for one.

They combined well to enjoy a straight-sets doubles victory.

Meanwhile, Kookaburras showed courage to overcome Echidnas for a tense 3-2 victory.

Brian Harrington gave a stylish performance to account for both singles and then joined with John Spencer for a straight-sets doubles victory to seal the match.

Top team Wallabies destroyed Plovers, showing their class to account for all their matches for a 5-0 victory. Ashley Duns and Dean Quilty gave a great exhibition, and were too talented for the opposition.

B-grade

Gil Smith led Gliders to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Bullants, producing his best to win both singles in a classic performance with team mate Kaleb Lissenden playing strongly for one. They easily won the doubles in straight sets to top off a successful night.

Numbats produced entertaining table tennis when they outplayed Frogs for a convincing 4-1 victory, with Brian Perry winning both singles comfortably.

Coby Linke was in great form, posting a singles win before combining with Perry for an easy doubles victory.

A fired-up Mozzies outfit outperformed Eagles, enjoying a runaway 4-1 victory in a classic match.

Chris Lee starred for Mozzies, winning both singles in a fine display. He had good support from Richard Morton, who played well to win a singles before pairing with Lee for a straight-sets doubles victory.

Wombats had to produce their best to edge out a determined Redbacks, holding on for a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

Graeme Greed was the standout, playing brilliantly to win both singles in style. He then combined with Rae Spencer to account for the doubles in straight sets.

C-grade

Ladder leader Magpies had to produce their best form to hold off Hawks, going on to a tense 3-2 victory in a hard-fought affair.

Judy Amery starred for Magpies, playing extremely well to win both singles in a stylish performance. She then teamed with Ann Degan to take out the match with a straight-sets doubles victory.

Falcons showed plenty of fight, producing an outstanding performance to defeat Koalas 4-1 in an entertaining match.

Avalon Arifin was sensational in winning both singles, with team mate Andrea Cathcart playing well to win one. They took out the doubles in straight sets.

In another close encounter, Doves prevailed for a tense 3-2 victory over Crickets in an action-packed match.

Thomas Hill showed off his skills, winning both singles in style. He then combined with Will Smith to win a hard-fought three-set doubles to seal the match.
