The Benalla Croquet Club Monthly Championship is well under way.

Debbie Hazell was the winner for February, and Trish Rogash the winner for March.

This week Benalla played Wodonga in the second round of the North Eastern District Croquet Association pennant competition.

Benalla won the day with six games and 79 hoops, just defeating Wodonga who also won six games with a total of 77 hoops.

The Benalla team comprised of captain Christine Blay, Malcolm Nelson, Bruce Blay and Maureen Freshwater.

Benalla plays Albury next in the NEDCA Pennant Championship at Albury on April 26.

The Benalla side will be looking to go back-to-back after the close win over Wodonga.

Coming up on April 27 is the Joan Rowan Memorial Golf Croquet Social Day with players from Cobram, Echuca-Moama, Euroa, Kyabram, Numurkah, Twin City, Walla Walla, Wangaratta and Yarrawonga entered to play.

Benalla Croquet Club operates each Tuesday and Thursday morning commencing a 9am.

The club says croquet is a very social activity and is open to both women and men, and that visitors and new members are welcome to join.
