Up to six Australian representative cricketers will descend on Benalla on Saturday for a one-off match before their tour to England in July.
The Benalla Gardens will play host to an historic match organised by the Benalla Bushrangers, which will see up to six over-60 Australian representatives play in an 40-over match.
Australian over-60 player and Benalla resident Trevor Saker is the man behind the plan to get his team mates to the city before they jet to England for a 15-game tour of England, Scotland and Wales.
Saker said the match will be a city against country styled game, which begins at 10.30am this Saturday.
‘‘The game is being organised by the Benalla Bushrangers Cricket Club over 60’s. It will be a country versus city game. Up to six of the Australian over-60 players to tour England in July will be playing, including travellers from Tasmania and ACT.
‘‘The Gardens is in magnificent condition and providing the weather stays fine we should have a good day,’’ Saker said.
