After last week’s Jarrod Bannister masterclass at the Benalla Racecourse, it was fellow forward Nick Warnock’s time to shine against the Shepparton Swans.
Warnock matched Bannister’s haul against the Mooroopna Cats in round one when he bagged seven majors against a struggling Swans outfit.
With that performance Warnock sees himself shoot up the goal-kicking ladder into sixth place with nine goals for the season.
The away side outscored the Swans in every quarter, while only conceding four majors itself.
The final score saw the Saints run out victors by more than 100 points — the first time they have achieved that scoring landmark this season.
The Saints now sit joint top of the Goulburn Valley Football League, alongside last year’s premier Kyabram — which sits top on points percentage — with Seymour in third place.
The Saints can also claim a victory from seeing the Goulburn Valley’s under-18 interleague squad when it was named.
Saints Aaron Blackburn, Jamie Dunne, Patrick Bromley, Marcus O’Brien, Patrick Warner and Michael Ryan have been included in the 36-man squad set to play the Ovens and Murray squad before the AFL Victoria Community Championships next Saturday.
This weekend’s action sees the Saints at home to the sixth-placed Shepparton Bears. The match kicks off at 2pm at the Benalla Showgrounds.
