Benalla Hockey Club’s men’s B-side was the only side to win on the weekend against Shepparton SYC.
The Tigers found themselves behind early, with SYC scoring first.
Benalla quickly responded with Dane Hansted working a goal around the goalie.
The second half saw Benalla take off and control the game, going on to score another five goals.
SYC was able to manage another just before full-time, with Benalla winning 6-3.
Umpire’s votes went to David McIntyre (3), Brandon Trevaskis (2) and Evan Dowe (1).
Benalla’s youngest side could not overcome rival SYC Yellow on Saturday.
Liana Turner was strong in goals, with Cindy Daws and Zoe Grundy again showing their worth as full-backs.
The Tigers have improved their game play as a team, with Charlie Grimwade making some great plays through the centre and out to Sarah Farley and Alex White on the wings.

Benalla’s under-15s were outclassed by a strong SYC outfit on the weekend, losing 10-2.
Forwards Cindy Daws, Toby and Olly Day, Ankur Singh, Darcy Tyquin, and Alex White rotated positions, with some long passes through SYC’s defence.
They fought hard in the circle, with goals to Toby Day and Darcy Tyquin.
The half and full-backs also rotated, with Alex and Evan Dowe, Ben Grundy, Thomas Hill, Siobhan Linnet and Tyler Wright assisting goalie Perry Plex with many great deflections.

The women had a frustrating 6-1 loss to SYC, playing one short while SYC had three on the bench.
Benalla defended well, with many midfield turnovers by Mel Gilies and Siobhan Higgins giving Sarah Chittick and Heidi Perry some long runs forward into the goal circle.
The second half saw two missed goals due to early whistles, before Sharon Watkins scored with a strong hit in from the wings near the final siren.

The under-13s play Strikers at 10am this Saturday in Shepparton, with all other teams playing Mooroopna: under-15s at 11.10am, women at 12.30pm and the men at 2pm.
