Young Benalla bowler Tyson Cromie has again represented Victoria, this time earning silver in a national fours competition.
Cromie, who recently turned 15, was in the team of four that represented the state in NSW for the Australian Under-18 Championships Fours.
The FCJ College student flew to Taren Point in Sydney with the team from September 29 to October 2 for the national competition.
Edged out by South Australia in the final, Cromie said it was still an exciting event to be a part of.
‘‘It was pretty cool to be flown up to Sydney with the team. And when we got there, mum and dad and my brother came up as well,’’ he said.
The Victorian side beat Western Australia by a shot, and Queensland by 10 shots, but it was not enough to overcome the older, more experienced South Australian side.
Victoria won its group with two wins but did not play the Northern Territory side who forfeited its matches, meaning the South Australians, who won all three of their group matches, were crowned champions.
Cromie is the youngest player in the Victorian under-18 side; and the only player in his side not from Melbourne.
