On Sunday the Samaria Suns travelled down the highway to Clarke Oval in Sunbury to face the Sunbury Lions.
The undermanned Suns were boosted with numbers thanks to Melton and the Woodend Hesket.
The first quarter saw the Lions get the early jump on the Suns who struggled to get the ball into the forward line.
It wasn’t until midway through the second term that the Suns were able to get a major, however by this time the Lions had a commanding lead.
Coach Kyle Pugh was happy with how the team started working together and this was evident with the third term being a much closer contest between the two sides.
This was in part due to the great run from Darby Morrison who was certainly leading by example, creating plenty of pressure and movement forward.
In the end the Lions ran away with the win by 79 points.
